Restaurant and Accommodation, Baião, Portugal

Comissioned by Romã Events

At the inauguration in December 1995, the Baionense writer António Mota told the story of the almocreve like this: In the early hours of the morning, before the rooster crowed, he would get up and, shortly after, he would be with the males, preparing them and giving them the grain. Then, ala!, the day has many paths, life has many turns. The males, slow-moving, carried or not, were his faithful companions. Ala!, that it was necessary to buy and sell cereal, load and unload it. And she, at home, had five children to raise, she had the chickens and the pig and the store and the customers and she had to be strong because her husband sometimes liked to be a bird of arrival: he would allow her to fly to Brazil! And today, when there are no more males, no shops, no almocreve, there are five educated children and this house wants to affectionately keep the memory of this profession as a almocreve.
